Inspirational Quotations

Inspiration from Meaningful Quotations

I've found deep reassurance in my reading of meaningful quotations. I write these thoughts on cards and place them where I'm likely to read some each day.

• William Wordsworth: “Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower, we will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind.”

• Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: “Take this sorrow to thy heart/and make it a part of thee/and it shall nourish thee/till thou art strong again.”

• Philo of Alexandria: “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle.”

• Queen Elizabeth I: "Grief never ends, but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love."

• Abraham Lincoln: “In this sad world of ours, sorrow comes to all, and it often comes with bitter agony. Perfect relief is not possible, except with time. You cannot now believe that you will ever feel better. But this is not true. You are sure to be happy again. Knowing this, believing it, will make you less miserable now. I have had enough experience to make this statement.”

• Jesus: “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted” and “…it is not my Father’s will even one of these little ones should perish.”
